Tight Access Excavation Specialists

Residential & Commercial Earthworks

Locally Owned & Operated

Prepared residential site ready for turf and planting

Before the Pipe Goes In

Underground plumbing and electrical work starts with a tidy and accurately measured trench. Get the depth wrong, lose the gradient or let the walls collapse before the pipe goes in, and the tradesperson on site loses time, and you lose money. At Top Shelf Earth Works, we offer plumbing and electrical trenching for homeowners, plumbers, electricians and builders across Brisbane and surrounds, including North Lakes, Kallangur, Narangba, Burpengary and Caboolture. We'll dig to your tradesperson's specifications, keep spoil managed on site and backfill on request so the job moves straight to the next stage without delays. We run a compact excavator fleet built for residential work. Our machines can get through narrow side gates and tight backyards without tearing up fencing, paths or lawns, and we carry the right bucket widths for water supply lines, sewer runs, stormwater drains, underground electrical conduits, communications cabling and NBN trenches. What We Can Dig For You

  • Water Supply Lines: Digging trenches for new water mains, extensions and re-routes between the meter and the house, sized to your plumber's specification.
  • Sewer & Drainage Trenching: Clean, graded trenches for sewer runs, stormwater lines and sub-surface drainage, dug to the correct fall so gravity does the work.
  • Underground Electrical Conduits: Accurate trenching for underground power lines, single and three-phase circuits, switchboard feeds and outbuilding connections.
  • Communications & NBN Cabling: Narrow, precise trenches for fibre, data, phone and communications conduits between structures or from the pit to the premises.
  • Post Holes: Drilled post holes for fencing, carports, pergolas and retaining structures, bored to the depth and diameter your job requires.

Frequently Asked Questions

Minimum depth requirements vary by utility type. Water supply lines are typically laid at 300–600mm, while electrical conduits and sewer runs generally require 500mm or more depending on the application, local authority requirements and whether the trench crosses trafficable areas. Your plumber or electrician will specify the depth and gradient they need, and we dig to that specification.
